Dear Friends, I was having a casual conversation with one of my non-medico friends about the business model of online stores and the home delivery strategy when he casually commented that nowadays you can order a home delivery of Doctor for a mere Rs 200 so why not other more valuable goods. I was wondering whether this concept of providing healthcare at a patient's home has actually eroded the value of a Doctor in the society.
I can understand a Doctor paying a home visit to an elderly patient who cannot move because of a femur fracture on humanitarian grounds but what about those somewhat affluent patients who want a doctor to come to their house because they want to be treated in the comfort of their homes, even though, the doctors clinic may be stones throw away from their house.
