The hemodialysis patients have higher morbidity and mortality, multiple hospitalizations, unique treatment complications, such as vascular access failure, considerable expenses, and lower quality of life than the general population. There is very limited data on hemodialysis outcomes in renal diseases from India. This article is a synopsis of the original study which has documented the clinical profile of patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) in the dialysis unit of a hospital.
Study design: The end-stage renal disease patients on maintenance hemodialysis were included in the study. The study recorded the patient age, gender, the cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD), comorbidities, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) at initiation hemodialysis, dialysis parameters (duration, frequency, vascular access), Erythropoietin use) survival on hemodialysis, causes of death.…
