A preterm twin born at 35 weeks has made a strong recovery after surviving a high-risk course involving congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), thanks to nearly two months of intensive care and surgery at Sahyadri Hospitals in Pune. The infant was admitted on October 14, 2025, with severe respiratory distress and sepsis. Imaging quickly confirmed left-sided CDH, a rare defect seen in roughly 1 in 3,000 births, where abdominal organs herniate into the chest and impair lung development.

The case was particularly challenging due to prematurity, twin gestation, and active infection.
