Prolonged use of certain medications is one of the risk factors for secondary osteoporosis. This article presents a case report of a patient diagnosed with osteoporosis stress fractures after long-term treatment with hyperthyroidism medications. The condition was restored to normal with the dose correction of levothyroxine.
Patient information Age: 38 years Gender: Female Body height: 169 cm Bodyweight: 62 kg BMI (kg/m2): 21.7 History of present illness The patient was presented in an endocrinology clinic for the assessment of stress fractures and severe pain in the lower limb, followed by rigorous running exercise (10-20 km, 5-6 times a week). A recent incidence of one low-impact forearm fracture and eight rib fractures were reported.
