The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed millions of lives across the globe and has created havoc within the medical community. Medications and vaccinations have been the core of every discussion lately, but the deaths of doctors on frontline COVID-19 duty has also created a sense of despondency amongst healthcare workers. According to the data collected by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), 196 doctors have succumbed to COVID-19. Out of these 196 doctors, 170 were over the age of 50, and 40% were general practitioners.
Various states in the country have lost efficient doctors who were frontline workers. According to the reports from different states, doctors and their families can face shortages of beds and medicines, thus exacerbating the situation.
