A new multicountry study has delivered an uncomfortable reality check. India has the highest prevalence of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) carriage among patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), with 83% testing positive before the procedure. The findings come from a global effort spanning India, Italy, the United States, and the Netherlands, and they arrive at a time when antimicrobial resistance is rapidly outpacing our ability to contain it.
