Insulin treatment is common for type 2 diabetes. It is thought that insulin may be associated with cardiovascular (CV) deaths in diabetes patients. New Action to Control Cardiovascular Death in Diabetes (ACCORD) research shows that there is a lack evidence of association of insulin in cardiovascular deaths. Scientists from Temple University, School of Medicine recently published a study to evaluate the association of cardiovascular deaths with insulin. The scientists revisited the results of insulin exposure data of the participants of the ACCORD trial.

The mean follow-up time for these patients was 5 years. The researchers found that more participants were allocated to intensive treatment compared to the standard treatment ACCORD (79 Vs. 62%).
