According to a recent study by researchers at Harvard University, women with long and irregular menstrual cycles are at an increased risk of major chronic diseases such as ovarian cancer, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and mental health issues. About the study The study was a prospective cohort analysis of irregular or long cycles in premenopausal women without a history of cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and diabetes. A total of 79505 premenopausal women without specific medical history and who reported regularity of their cycles at ages 14-17, 18-22, and 29-46 years participated in the study.
