Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory condition affecting 1% of the population. Notwithstanding with its cardinal articular and periarticular features, RA can involve other organs including heart, lung, skin, and eye. It can also affect the auditory system by a variety of pathologies in the course of a disease . Conductive hearing loss (CHL) and mixed hearing loss (MHL) have also been found to be associated with RA.

In RA, the auditory system may be involved during the course of disease; however the association of RA and hearing impairment has not been clearly defined.
