Many women who have had a live birth through assisted reproductive technology (ART) subsequently conceive naturally. However, the incidence of natural conception after ART live birth is presumed rare, and the exact prevalence of such incidence is unknown. Now, a systematic review of 11 studies, including 5,180 women, analyzed how many women conceive naturally after ART live births. The meta-analysis of the studies found that one in five women conceived naturally after having an ART live birth.

Furthermore, natural conception pregnancy occurred within three years after ART live birth in 18% of women. Researchers suggest the increased access to ART, its use in treating various subfertility problems and for other causes, and affordability may be the reason for the increased natural conceptions after ART live births.
