A first-year MBBS student from a medical college in Jaipur, Rajasthan, had to undergo dialysis four times after seven second-year students forced him to perform over 300 sit-ups in the blazing heat. According to the victim, the shocking incident took place on May 15. The accused senior students took him to a hilly spot 1.5 km from the college campus. The victim developed severe dehydration after doing sit-ups and was hospitalized in Ahmedabad for seven days. Subsequently, the victim filed a complaint with the anti-ragging cell of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
In response, the NMC emailed the college principal regarding the incident. The principal forwarded the email to the college’s anti-ragging committee on June 22.
