A young adult with significant pre-existing vulnerabilities underwent an orchidectomy at a Kerala private hospital and later developed serious complications. What began as a routine surgical plan ultimately escalated into a medico-legal dispute involving competing medical opinions, a human rights intervention, and final adjudication by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC). The case originated in 2017 when a 21-year-old patient with mental disability and a history of endosulfan exposure presented with an infected testicle. The treating consultant, an MD Surgeon at the first hospital, confirmed right testicular torsion with early necrosis through Doppler imaging and advised urgent orchidectomy.
