All of this ruckus had begun when the Karnataka Medical Council issued a mandate for the re-registration and licence renewal for doctors once in five years. This announcement itself created a lot of commotion among the medical fraternity which pronounced the process as “nothing but a sham” and planned to boycott the decision. Following the opposition, the KMC has decided not to ask doctors to re-register themselves for the next 3 months. In response to the overall denunciation that the KMC has received from the IMA, it (KMC) has decided to shelve this move for the time being.
Instead, they are insisting that the doctors at least update their data with the council. The next course of the action will be decided later after seeking legal advice.
