The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has rolled out a statewide food safety compliance order under the Safe Food, Healthy Maharashtra campaign, introducing stricter standards for food businesses and prohibiting the practice of serving food in newspapers or other printed paper. The directive applies to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, cloud kitchens, caterers, and online food delivery platforms throughout the state.
According to the FDA, establishments that fail to meet food safety requirements could face severe regulatory action, including financial penalties, suspension or cancellation of licenses, closure of operations, and even imprisonment in cases involving serious harm.
