Pregnancy in women with dwarfism is rare, and for such cases, a cesarean section is usually recommended for delivery. Moreover, these are a high-risk population for both general and regional anesthesia and emergency surgery. The present article describes a case of a pregnant woman with dwarfism who underwent an emergency cesarean section under combined spinal and epidural anesthesia. Case presentation A 27-year-old primipara with dwarfism was presented for an emergency cesarean section at 38 weeks gestation.
The patient had typical features of dwarfism with short limbs and lumbar lordosis; the major proportion was made up of head and body trunk. She was 102 cm tall and weighed about 63.5 kg with normal intelligence. Family history The patient had a positive maternal history of dwarfism.
