The prevalence of breast cancer in individuals above the age of 65 has increased significantly in the last few years with nearly 45% of the cases occurring in this age group. Unfortunately, the survival rate is also poor in this population. Taking note of this, the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists and the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) released a set of guidelines for managing breast cancer in the elderly individuals in 2012.

These guidelines were recently updated based on the new evidences that have become available since then. These guidelines have been designed based on various levels of evidence as defined by the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The updated guidelines are as follows: Screening: ย  Treatment ย  ##Adjuvant therapy: ## ##ย  ##Treatment for metastatic disease:## Stepwise dose-escalation is recommended to avoid toxicity.โ€ฆ
