According to the AYUSH ministry the Ayurveda doctors who are trained to perform surgeries can do it everywhere. Whereas MCI says that they cannot perform surgeries in modern medicine hospitals. So, the question arises, can Ayurveda practitioners perform surgeries? AYUSH ministry says that surgeries are a part of the Ayurveda curriculum. According to the secretory of AYUSH, these Ayurveda doctors can perform surgeries that are there in their syllabus with some exceptions.

They cannot perform certain major surgeries but the basic ones which are there in the curriculum can be done. Keeping this in mind the AYUSH ministry sought MCI approval over this issue, but MCI refused the approval. This disapproval was given considering the MCI rules where crosspathy is prohibited.
