Upholding principle of fair play and natural justice Bombay high court ruled that Before suspending the license to practice of a doctor, MCI has to issue a notice to him or her stating the reasons for the proposed action and providing a chance to be heard. An important decision has come from the Bombay High Court. The Medical Council of India (MCI) cannot suspend the registration of a doctor without issuing a prior notice to the doctor.
With respect to a petition by doctor an orthopedic surgeon at Bombay hospital whose registration was recently cancelled for five years by the MCI due to practicing with a non-renewed license for two decades.
