In its latest mandate, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has made it mandatory for all the PG trainees of MD Forensic Medicine to carry out clinical forensic works. As per the guideline, the PG trainees of forensic medicine departments need to conduct at least 100 clinical forensic cases besides the autopsy cases during the course period. On top of that, it has been dictated that such departments must carry out a medicolegal examination of sexual assault cases. Background of the mandate: Since forensic medicine must collaborate with legal issues, PG pass outs of MD Forensic Medicines are expected to have the necessary competency.
