At present we are seeing a lot of patients who have syndrome complex of DM nephropathy gout and hypertension, this is known as metabolic syndrome. Most of the times, I have noticed that these patients have not performed a periodic ophthalmic examination and as a result due to uncontrolled DM, they land into complications. Ophthalmic complications can be vitreous, headache, macular edema.

However, besides periodic ophthalmic and other medical evaluation, proper management of D K in form of drugs, regular exercise and diet is important. It is also important that a treating diabetologist should regularly refer the patient to ophthalmologist in not 6 months but the nearly ophthalmic examination is important. Share your opinion.
