However, associated complications include recurrent laryngeal nerve injury, the external branch of superior laryngeal nerve injury, and post-operative hypocalcemia. These nerve injuries can affect the phonation and breathing of patients. Nevertheless, a microscope can be used to visualize these nerves, parathyroid glands, and their blood supply and minimize thyroidectomy-related complications.
