It is observed that some people have very low antibody levels post COVID-19 vaccination. Therefore, researchers from the Chiba University, Japan, have conducted a study to determine why some people have low antibody levels even after getting vaccinated against COVID-19. The findings of the study are published on the preprint platform bioRxiv. The study included 1,774 healthcare workers who had received two doses of BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.
Blood samples were collected 0-2 weeks before the 1st dose and three weeks after the 2nd dose of the vaccine. The characteristics of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) before and after the vaccination were analyzed. Post-vaccination, PBMCs were analyzed for twenty participants with high anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody titers and twenty with low anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody titers.
