Mycosis fungoides (MF) is a form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by papulosquamous patches or plaques. It can rarely advance to become tumors with involvement of the lymphatic system and other viscera. Many skin-directed therapies such as topical chemotherapeutic agents, phototherapy, methotrexate etc. are used as first-line treatment. Among them, phototherapy is one of the cornerstones in the treatment of early-stage MF.
Narrowband UV-B (NBUVB, 311nm) and psoralen–UV-A (PUVA, 320-340nm) are the most commonly used modalities of phototherapy.
