Most gastroenterologists are familiar with endoscopic approaches for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening—colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy—and thus this article focuses on several types of noninvasive tests that have been developed for CRC screening, including FOBT, the fecal immunochemical test (FIT), the fecal-based DNA test, CT colonography (CTC), and the blood-based DNA test (SEPT9 gene methylation assay). The incidence of CRC in India is the tenth leading cancer in India with the mean age of rectal cancer is around 40-45 yr. However, CRC is one of the most preventable cancers and effective screening methods are available.
