A gastrointestinal (GI) tract, may not only produce a digestive disorder but also may lead symptoms outside of the digestive system. Interestingly, some oral conditions may even lead to a gastrointestinal disease. Several GI conditions can give rise to symptoms in the oral cavity, within tissues in or around the mouth. This article elucidates oral changes observed in some of the selected GI diseases.
Lesions within the jaws, oral mucosa or perioral tissues may sometimes be witnessed as manifestations of gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. These oral lesions may occasionally occur before the onset of GI disease, be present during the disease process or persist even after the disease has resolved.
