A 5 months old healthy male infant passes frequent semi-formed stools (7-8 times a day), volume is appx 30-40 grams. Infant passes stool every time immediately (within 5 min) after taking BF/bottle feed. He started showing such increased stool frequency since last 10 days only. Since birth, the baby is taking formula milk along with mothers Breastfeeding due to an inadequacy of breast milk. The infant is playful, no history of vomiting, no signs of abdominal pain, no abdominal distension, no sigh of dehydration.
Weight gain is as expected in a normal infant. Is it a gastrocolic reflex? For how long it may persist in the child ?
