Scientists have developed a pill that makes the tumor light up when exposed to Infrared light. This would prove to be a useful way in detecting breast cancer more effectively than mammography. Researchers say that patients who undergo chemo and radiation therapy for breast cancer have so slow growing tumors that if they were treated early they couldn’t be life threatening. Compared to X-ray lights the infrared lights penetrate easily with better depth helping in diagnosis.

Scientists have developed a drug which binds to the target and makes it perfect for imaging. This molecule is attached to fluoresces and when it is struck with infrared light it lightens up. This study is effective in mice and this is a promising approach that might help early diagnosis of breast cancer.
