The 25 th “ World Day of the Sick” will be celebrated this year, on 11 th February 2017. This year, the Holy father offered prayerful support and encouragement to physicians, nurses, volunteers and all those consecrated men and women committed to serving the sick and those in need. The history behind celebrating World Day of Sick is that the Pope John Poul II had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease as early as 1991, an illness which was disclosed later on, but he decided to create a World Day of the Sick only one year after his diagnosis.
