Cardioembolism accounts for about 20% of all ischemic strokes that are usually severe, prone to early recurrence and to hemorrhagic transformation. The clinical features may help to suspect a cardioembolic source, but usually, have a low sensitivity which could be a sudden onset to maximal deficit. Various cardiac conditions have been clearly associated with an increase in the risk of ischemic stroke.
