A team of doctors in a hospital in Pune has performed a complex kidney transplant on a female patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis, overcoming challenges, including different blood groups and the presence of triple renal arteries in the donor (patient’s husband). The patient had SLE and lupus nephritis since 2015. Her condition deteriorated further in 2020 due to herpes zoster and diabetes.
