Synopsis Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary hepatic malignancy and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. In this aspect sorafenib was the first drug to show improved median overall survival in patients with HCC. Initial phase 2 trials have shown ramucirumab to have anti-tumor activity in advanced HCC. Thus, REACH was the first global, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 study for justifying the efficacy and safety of ramucirumab monotherapy after first-line sorafenib.
