A prospective cohort study published in The Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging evaluated the association of sarcopenia with lung function and the risk of developing respiratory diseases, along with the potential contribution of inflammatory and metabolic pathways. Researchers found that both probable and confirmed/severe sarcopenia were consistently associated with poorer lung function and increased risk of incident respiratory disease.
