Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is administered following a percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting to reduce the risk of thrombosis and prevent failure of the procedure. The new generation of stents and devices is associated with lesser or no risks of failure and thrombosis. In addition, these devices, like the paclitaxel-coated devices, show promising outcomes and require a shorter duration of DAPT following stenting.
