There is extensive evidence on the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid (HA) in the tissue repair process. HA produces a positive effect on the healing of venous leg ulcers, burns, postsurgical wounds, etc. In this regard, a recent retrospective, observational study evaluated the efficacy and safety of HA-based products in chronic skin ulcers of various etiologies such as vascular, scleroderma, and postoperative. The study evaluated 106 chronic skin wounds of various etiologies with granulating appearance insensitive to topical wound dressings.

A total of 79 patients were included in the study (age range: 40–98 years) and they were divided into non-sclerodermic group and sclerodermic group.
