This case study is of a 72- year-old man presenting with symptoms of a cerebrovascular accident. The laboratory investigations in this patient were suggestive of hypercalcemia, but further probe led to the diagnosis of multiple myeloma and hyperviscosity syndrome. Case presentation A 72-year-old male patient was brought to the emergency department with chief complaints of slurred speech, altered mental status, and unstable gait. Medical history The patient had a history of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
