Congenital clubfoot (CTEV) is the most common congenital anomaly encountered in orthopedic practice. It is bilateral in 50% of cases.The type of foot deformity needs to be clinically evaluated and teratological causes are to be excluded in rigid variety. Attenborough's classification of this deformity into mild, moderate and severe grades is quite helpful in planning the treatment and for prognosis. Though the success rate depends on the earlier intervention of this deformity, it's recommended to wait about a fortnight before one attempts manipulation in a newborn.

The physiological type will just get corrected on its own by then with gentle manipulation of the baby's foot by the mother at every time of feeding.
