During the dengue outbreak this year, many hospitals are short of beds to admit and treat patients. Superspecialty clinics are being setup to cater to patients who do not need immediate hospitalization, said health department officials. As hospitals across Delhi struggle to treat the scores of patients reporting symptoms of dengue and fever, the government is trying to ease the load on them by opening up 55 ‘fever clinics’. Operational from September 20, these clinics are being set up in areas from where a large number of dengue and fever cases have been reported.

They will be open from 7 am to 9 pm and the chief district medical officer (CDMO) of the area will be in charge of these clinics. “This step will help control the flood of patients in hospitals.
