Risks associated with diabetic retinopathy can be minimized by clinical interventions involving the prevention of microvascular complications, early diagnosis of retinopathy, and effective surgical and non-surgical treatment. When non-surgical interventions are in-effective, laser photocoagulation and vitrectomy surgery aid in treating the complications. The type of intervention strategy to be employed depends on an individual’s clinical presentations and plays a key role in managing microvascular complications.
