The decreasing sexual desire in men in their mid-60s is one of the common problems reported to both general practitioners and urologists. The recent study published in well-known New England Journal of Medicine suggests that testosterone therapy may be beneficial for these patients. The testosterone or commonly referred as “male hormone” levels decrease with the increasing age. Many conditions which are either associated with low testosterone levels in men with pituitary or testicles become common with increasing age.
The most common symptoms include decreases in mobility, sexual function, desire, and energy. This array of symptoms suggests that testosterone levels in men may contribute to these conditions.
