A good understanding of this variation (in every physiology) is the difference that differentiates us as doctors or specialist doctors or super specialist doctors. Mean arterial pressure is taken as an indicator for good tissue perfusion. pH is taken as an index/ check of tissue perfusion. But the tissue perfusion requirement doesn't remain same in all positions and states of mind. Requirements keep changing very frequently. Take anesthesia, what you feel hypotension may not be hypotension!
That may be adequate in a lying down, fully sedated, painless patient. That May be adequate for that patient. That will be proved, only if you do an ABG. And check pH. Tissue Perfusion may be adequate. Similarly, tissue perfusion requirement varies greatly/decreased with Sedated, lying down, painless, anxiety less brain.
