Temporomandibular joint disorder, a type of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) affects the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The typical features include pain in TMJ, restriction of mandibular movement, and TMJ sounds. The standard tests to correctly diagnose TMJ disorders are not currently available. The underlying etiology and symptoms are not fully understood, making it a hard-to-diagnose condition.
