The incidence of CRC in India is the tenth leading cancer in India with the mean age of rectal cancer is around 40-45 yr. Approximately one in three people diagnosed with CRC die of this disease in the five years after diagnosis. Removal of premalignant adenomas can prevent the cancer and removal of localized cancer may prevent CRC-related death. However, it is also one of the most preventable, and the effective screening methods are available.
The incidence of mortality attributable to CRC have declined steadily, partly due to screening. Multiple test options are available for screening to detect either early-stage cancer or precancerous polyps.
