UN Reported that in India new HIV infections reduced by 1.2 lacs in 2010 to 88,000 in 2017, AIDS-related deaths from 1.6 lacs to 69,000 and people living with HIV from 23 lacs to 21 lacs in the same time period. Globally, new infection dropped by nearly 18% since 2010 against the target of 75% by 2020. A major reduction in AIDS burden with new HIV infection dropped by 26.6% and AIDS-related deaths by 56.8% between 2010 to 2017 said UN reports. In India, sustained and focused efforts led to major reductions in HIV infections between 2010 to 2017.
