Dienogest (DNG), a commonly prescribed therapy for endometriosis -associated pain, has shown clinical benefits, yet evidence comparing long-term low-dose versus standard-dose regimens remains limited. To address this gap, a study evaluated the efficacy and safety of 48-week DNG treatment, comparing daily doses of 1 mg and 2 mg in reducing endometriosis -related dysmenorrhea using a composite symptom score involving 88 patients. The study showed that both dienogest doses substantially reduced menstrual pain, with mean visual analog scale (VAS) decreases of 44.63 mm for the 1-mg group and 54.19 mm for the 2-mg group.
However, the difference between groups did not meet the threshold to confirm non-inferiority of the lower dose. While both groups experienced improvements in dysmenorrhea scores and reductions in endometrioma volume, the 2-mg dose produced slightly stronger effects. Estradiol…
