A 55-year-old menopausal woman presented to a gynecologist with complaints of vaginal bleeding. History Her history was unremarkable for any relevant condition. Investigations The physical examination was unremarkable. A pap smear and an endometrial biopsy yielded normal results. Laboratory parameters were all within the normal range, including the CA 125 test. An ultrasound revealed an abnormally enlarged uterus.
An MRI demonstrated a lateral pelvic mass measuring 14×10×8.5 cm (as seen in the figure below). A CT scan revealed a pelvic mass. A CT scanner-guided biopsy revealed the presence of benign fibrosclerous components. An explorative laparoscopy revealed a large, soft, lateral retroperitoneal pelvic mass without ascites.
