According to a meta-analysis published in Obesity Reviews, being overweight or obese are linked to an increased risk of developing urinary incontinence in young and middle-aged women. The authors of the study conducted a systemic literature search and reviewed 14 citations. They found that there was a 33% increase in the risk of urinary incontinence in overweight individuals, while the same risk was double in obese women.

These findings accentuated the role of excess body weight in weakening of the pelvic floor muscles, and subsequently increasing the risk of urinary incontinence in these women. Source: Endocrine News
