The US FDA has approved bevacizumab-nwgd, a biosimilar, to treat several different types of cancer. Bevacizumab is a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor.
It prevents VEGF from interacting with its receptors on the surface of endothelial cells and thus prevents angiogenesis, restricting blood supply to tumors.
