The US FDA has approved olezarsen as an adjunct to diet to reduce triglycerides in adult patients with familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS). FCS is a rare genetic form of severe hypertriglyceridemia that can lead to life-threatening acute pancreatitis (AP). Clinical evidence In a clinical trial conducted on 45 FCS patients, olezarsen significantly reduced triglyceride levels at six and 12 months and lowered the incidence of AP in patients over the 12-month treatment compared to a placebo.
