The USFDA recently approved daprodustat , the first oral treatment for anemia caused by chronic kidney disease in patients who are on dialysis. The effectiveness of this drug was tested in a randomized controlled trial that included 2,964 patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis. The participants were either given daprodustat orally or recombinant human erythropoietin through injections.
The findings of this trial showed that treatment with daprodustat raised hemoglobin levels to 10-11 gms/decilitre, which is similar to recombinant human erythropoietin. Source: USFDA Do you think daprodustat will be effective in treating anemia caused by chronic kidney disease patients on dialysis?
