The frequency of vertebral compression fracture is intensifying with the growing geriatric population . A meta-analysis evaluated the trials comparing vertebral augmentation and non-operative care , with pain as the primary outcome and quality of life (QoL) metrics and functional consequences as secondary outcomes.

The study suggested that vertebral augmentation is more effective in improving pain outcomes when compared with non-operative management. However, more studies are desired to conclusively assess vertebral augmentation's efficacy in improving functional outcome and QoL.
